My apartment search started on bad footing: Either I had brokers who wouldn't listen to what I wanted, or people weren't giving me honest advice and feedback. I had a really tight deadline to find an apartment, and I was really stressed out about it. A contact of mine gave me Diego's information, and I called him right away. Diego was everything I was looking for in a broker; I told him exactly what I was looking for and he really listened. Not even a week after contacting him, I saw an apartment that was the perfect fit for me, and submitted an application. Diego was there every step of the way and explained anything that I didn't understand. I ended up getting the apartment and am now so happy with my new home. I know that I wouldn't have been able to find it without somebody as dedicated as him.

This review is for Ben Scheck.
I had a relatively complicated apartment search and very limited time to take care of it. Ben really came through. He is super-responsive and will return calls and emails ASAP. Ben knows the downtown area well and will give you the full story on what to expect from different buildings, etc. He did a lot of running around to make sure everything was done, and I remain grateful for all his help. I cannot overemphasize how hectic things got and how he never lost his cool.
A general word of advice for apartment-hunting in NYC, with or without a broker: this is the Manhattan real estate market, and you can't check your brain at the door no matter who you decide to work with. For me, that means getting everything in writing and never accepting that something would be "okay" even though it conflicts with a written contract (e.g., how many pets a building allows per apartment, etc.). Others might feel differently about this.
All this being said, I would work with Ben again in a heartbeat. He's nice, he's smart, and he will make things happen including when things get really stressful. So far, I am very pleased with where we live, especially considering everything that can go wrong in the NYC housing market.

Moving to a new city is never an easy task, so I decided to make it even more of a challenge. Task at hand... relocate to NYC from another country, locate a 2 bedroom within a certain price range while also trying to meet some unique needs, in one day.
I first attempted my search on-line only to find that when entering certain property expectations my options were significantly reduced, or that the price sky rocketed. After speaking with some co-workers and close friends I decided to reach out to Platinum Properties. There I was put in touch with Chandra Cadogan. Our first conversation went extremely well. I was able to outline my needs and wants as well as address the price range I was looking for. From there we arranged a meeting time mid January and went from there.
Arriving at Platinum's office I was immediately greeted and made comfortable, as we reviewed our plan for the day while Chandra outlined some of the properties we would be seeing. From there we ventured out, and over the course of the day viewed 12 different units. I must say it was a busy day, but as life would have it, it Chandra had saved the best for last. A beautiful 2 bedroom condo that met all of my needs and came in on the low end of my price range. Needless to say I returned home that night to my family and began the process of packing up our belongings to make the move down a week later.
Without the fantastic support of Chandra and the folks at Platinum Properties I would no doubt have been still searching for a suitable place, and it is with that, that I can not begin to thank Chandra and her team for all their help.

My agent Matt Soall in one word, professionalism. I mean I would email him and would get a response back sometimes within five minutes. I just moved from the west coast with limited knowledge of New York and just from talking to me over the phone he found a perfect place for me to live in Brooklyn. It was exactly what I wanted and I had never even met the man.
