In 2004, Daniel Hedaya was on the verge of becoming a chef when he switched gears and dove headfirst into real estate. Although the ex-culinary student still enjoys rustling up flavorful concoctions, he couldn’t be happier with his fast-paced and competitive work environment, which allows him to interact with a fascinating, international clientele.
A licensed real estate salesperson, Hedaya got his start with a boutique brokerage firm, showing both renters and buyers a variety of mainly downtown inventory. When siblings Khashy and Dezireh Eyn were establishing Platinum Properties in 2005, however, Hedaya grabbed the opportunity. At first, he managed three agents, then 10, and he now oversees nearly 85 brokers, each an expert in Manhattan’s many offerings.
Having diligently worked his way up from broker to senior manager to executive vice president to his current position of president in under six years, Hedaya’s background includes substantial experience in everything from sales training to market analysis. He has also successfully trained and managed a top-notch rental team and led company-wide seminars on advertising and marketing techniques. In addition, Hedaya spearheaded the FiDi Report, a comprehensive analysis of luxury apartment rental trends in the Financial District.
Under his leadership, Platinum Properties has developed an equation for success – in marketing, sales and management – that ranks customer service as the topmost priority. For Hedaya, real estate will always be a “relationship business,” in which the commission and final transaction are secondary to the satisfaction of clients.
Hedaya has ensured that the company remains ahead of its competition by thinking creatively and anticipating customers’ needs on an eclectic mix of residential projects. Specializing in luxury rentals and sales in Manhattan, Hedaya heads the firm's property management division, which manages and leases individual condominium units for investors. He is currently expanding the company's presence in Manhattan's luxury rental market, as well as setting up offices in Miami, Los Angeles, London and Tokyo.
A perfect fit in a company that functions as a tight-knit family, Hedaya has carved a niche for himself and now not only counts many clients among his close friends, but is also on a first-name basis with landlords, supers and doormen in most downtown properties.
Leading by example, Hedaya looks to his team of real estate agents to provide a valuable service to the community. His unwavering belief in revolutionizing New York’s real estate model with honesty and professionalism is reflected in Platinum Properties’ headlining transactions and impressive client roster.
Hedaya has also been responsible for several prominent sales, including the firm’s largest exclusive deal – 92 Laight Street, which at $2,996 per square foot – the second highest price per square foot in history – earned $11.5 million. Additionally, he recently put 200 Chamber Street’s exceptional penthouse CD on sale for $17.995 million, marking yet another milestone in Platinum’s success.
Always searching for the perfect way to give back, Hedaya is a familiar face at charity events in the city. He supports the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), which provides social, educational and recreational programs for Israel's soldiers, and is also involved with Lifeline New York, working with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation to improve the health and welfare of all those in need in Serbia.
