Celebrate the arrival of spring by getting out into the city this month. There are so many exciting events taking place all over New York City – from a tattoo convention in Queens to a folk music festival in Brooklyn. Whether you’re into art, music, culture, or even pillow fighting, there’s something for you this April!

Artexpo New York

(Apr 4-7) Curious what the fine art world has to offer these days? Then check out Artexpo New York. For 41 years, this event has allowed New Yorkers to see and purchase some of the world’s best artwork. It’s happening at Pier 92, and a multi-day show pass can be purchased online for $40.

Brooklyn Folk Festival

(Apr 5-7) Do you love folk music? Then you do not want to miss the Brooklyn Folk Festival. Located in the heart of Brooklyn, this festival features more than 30 folk musicians and bands from New York and around the world. It’s held at St. Ann’s Church; prices start at $25 for an individual ticket.

New York Tattoo Show

(Apr 5-7) If you fantasize about your next tattoo, then head to the United Ink No Limits International Tattoo Expo being held at the Resorts World Casino. More than 250 artists and vendors will be showcased, and the event features live entertainment, live music, and live tattooing. Must be 18 to enter.

New York Tartan Day Parade

(Apr 6) Celebrate Scottish culture at the New York Tartan Day Parade! The parade marches up Sixth Avenue and features the music of bagpipes and the swirl of hundreds of kilts. You might even spot the Loch Ness Monster if you’re lucky. There’s no charge to attend and the parade steps off from West 45th Street at 2pm.

International Pillow Fight Day

(Apr 6) Let out your aggressions in the best possible way on International Pillow Fight Day. New Yorkers can join in on the fun – just remember to swing lightly and help with clean up afterward. To find out more information about times and locations as the date nears, check the official website.

New York International Auto Show

(Apr 19-28) See the latest technology and most cutting edge design at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. There will be more than four floors of displays from automakers all over the world, including futuristic concept cars. It’s being held at the Jacob Javits Center. General admission tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival

(Apr 21) Celebrate Easter at the Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival. It takes place on Fifth Avenue between 49th and 57th around St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It’s one of the less-organized parades in the city, but that doesn’t mean people don’t get into the spirit. You’ll see elegant dresses and outrageous costumes, and everything in between.

Earth Day in Union Square

(Apr 23) Have fun with the family while celebrating Earth Day in Union Square. It features dozens of exhibitors including eco-friendly businesses and environmental advocacy groups. There will also be activities for kids as well as live performances. The event is free and takes place from noon to 6:30pm.

Tribeca Film Festival

(Apr 24 – May 5) The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the most high-profile film festivals in the US. It includes a full slate of films, music, talks and a whole lot more. Complete programming information will be available on March 15. Individual tickets for events begin at $12.

9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk

(Apr 28) Finally, finish the month doing something good for your body that benefits charity. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk begins in Lower Manhattan, winds through Battery Park and ends next to the Memorial Plaza. Adult registration is $50.
