Are you ready to let loose after trying hard all January to keep your New Year’s resolutions? Well, lucky for you, the city has you covered. There are plenty of fun and unusual events to keep you entertained in February, with many happening right here in the Financial District.

Super Bowl at Treadwell Park

(Feb. 4) Football fans don’t have to leave Lower Manhattan in order to enjoy a great Super Bowl party. Head to Treadwell Park at South End Avenue and Rector Place for their game day festivities. They’ll be serving up specials like a Guacamole Bowl for four, sliders by the dozen, and Team Pride Jello Shots. Or sample one of their rotating 20 craft beers while watching the Patriots take on the Eagles on 18 big screen TVs and a giant projector screen.

Pictures Under the Palms

(Feb. 6) Why sit at home and watch streaming movies when you can catch them for free on the big screen? Check out the film series Pictures Under the Palms at Brookfield Place, where you can sit under the palm trees, nosh on free popcorn and enjoy a great film. A live DJ spins tunes at 5:15pm, followed by the film at 7pm. Rebel Without a Cause is scheduled for February 6, with fan favorites playing on each subsequent Wednesday of the month.

Local Food & Wine Tasting Showcase

(Feb. 8) Head to the Fulton Stall Market at the South Street Seaport from 6–9pm for the Local Food & Wine Tasting Showcase. This fundraising event supports local farms and producers and your $49 ticket lets you sample a selection of their food and beverages. Learn about visiting their farms upstate while listening to live jazz performed by Amos Rose.

New York Fashion Week

(Feb. 8-16) Attention sartorialists — New York Fashion Week is here! There is no better time of the year for people watching in the city. Although most runway shows are industry only, there are general public events that are available to everyday Joes and Janes who appreciate cutting edge haute couture. Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

(Feb. 12-13) If you are a dog lover, is there a better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show? Grab a seat for one or both days of the event, and watch the world’s best dogs compete for Best in Show.

Love in the Parlor

(Feb. 14) For a romantic Valentine’s Day, reserve your tickets for Love in the Parlor at the Merchant’s House Museum in NoHo. You’ll enjoy lush, romantic music from the 19th century performed against the backdrop of the museum’s double parlor. For added fun, join them for a pre-concert glass of champagne by candlelight in the 1850s kitchen.

Kidville Valentine’s Day Party

(Feb. 14) Want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your little ones? Then head to Kidville FiDi for their Valentine’s Day Party. Happening from 5:30-7pm, the event features pizza, crafts, bouncy castle, photo booth and more. Tickets are $25 per child for members and $35 per child for non-members.

Frigid New York Theater Festival

(Feb. 14-Mar. 4) The Frigid Festival celebrates all that is fringe theater in the city. You can catch any one of 30 shows chosen by lottery, performing in two different venues in the East Village. All box office proceeds go directly to the artists.

Chinese New Year Parade

(Feb. 25) Ring in the Year of the Dog at the Chinese New Year Parade. Enjoy dragons and dancers at the annual Chinatown event, beginning at 1pm. The parade will travel down Mott Street onto East Broadway, curving up through Sara Roosevelt Park. For a fun day, explore the neighborhood, eat delicious food and hang around for some local karaoke.

Kids’ Night on Broadway

(Feb. 27) Ready to introduce your kids to the magic of The Great White Way? Then be sure to take advantage of Kids’ Night on Broadway. On Tuesday, February 27, all kids 18 and under can see a Broadway show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Many shows offer kid-themed activities, and several restaurants in the area offer dining discounts.
