There are tons of events and festivals that cater to pretty much every appetite, whether you’re craving delicious food from local chefs or a creepy live performance downtown. Summer is nearly here, and you can practically feel the excitement in the air!

Art of the Real

(Apr 26 – May 6) Who needs fiction when real life is so interesting? If you love nonfiction films, then head to the Art of the Real festival at Lincoln Center. General admission tickets for each film are $15, or see every film at the festival for $150.

Tech Day

(May 2) Nerd alert! If you’re excited by all the latest tech, then you need to check out Tech Day at the Jacob Javits Center. More than 300 startup exhibitors will be there for you to discover. You can also see live demonstrations and hear talks from industry experts. Passes to the expo floor are free until April 12.

New York Beer Festival

(May 4) Are you ready to kick back with a cold brew? Then head to the NY Beer Festival at Citi Field. There will be 80 breweries on hand pouring 200 beers as well as games and entertainment throughout the park. General admission is $50, and the food is sold separately.

Five Boro Bike Tour

(May 5) See New York City like you have never seen it before at the Five Boro Bike Tour. Bike 40 car-free miles throughout the city’s boroughs and enjoy a Finish Festival at the end. There will be fully-stocked rest areas throughout the ride, which begins in Lower Manhattan. Standard registration is $110, or splurge on the VIP experience for $350.

Taste of the Lower East Side

(May 9) Find out what’s cooking at Taste of the Lower East Side. This festival features food from dozens of local restaurants a well as open bars, games, and live DJs. Money raised helps support local charities.

Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party

(May 11-12) It’s time to celebrate the special women in your life! Take a mom you love to the Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party at the New York Botanical Garden. Enjoy a day of garden walks, games, food, and entertainment. Adult tickets are $28 for an All-Garden Pass. Children ages 2-12 are $12 and kids under two are free.

Taste of the Upper West Side

(May 17-18) Another can’t-miss NYC food event is the Taste of the Upper West Side. Approximately 80 chefs from the neighborhood will serve up their signature dishes at the 21-and-over event. It’s also an annual fundraiser, and this year the money raised is helping the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. Tickets start at $115.

Edgar Allen Poe Festival

(May 16 – June 1) Radiotheatre is proud to present the 4th annual Edgar Allen Poe Festival at St. John’s Sanctuary in Greenwich Village. Enjoy live performances of Poe’s best work amidst the candlelight and mist in this historic building.

Fleet Week

(May 22-28) Is there anything better than Fleet Week? Not only will you see hundreds of sailors roaming around town, but you can also tour ships, hear live music, and watch military displays all week long. This celebration has been happening every year since 1984.

World Science Festival

(May 28 – June 2) Finally, the World Science Festival offers the chance for regular folks to engage with science in fun and exciting ways.
