A recent Real Deal article highlighted that boutique and startup brokerages have been outpacing growth compared to some of the city’s larger, more established firms.
In 2022, Platinum Properties made its way to the top 10 fastest-growing firms by percentage, proving that boutique firms have a strong standing in the New York City brokerage landscape, according to Corofy’s rankings of New York City’s residential brokerages.
“With fewer colleagues, agents at boutique brokerages often get more direct attention, including customized business plans and personalized advice and training, which most larger brokerages typically don’t have the manpower or bandwidth to provide,” said Melissa True, Sales Director at Platinum Properties.
True said this level of oversight and support is especially important for new agents, and without it, many will likely decide to leave the industry just as they’re starting out.
Boutique firms are also often structured as one big team, rather than individual agents and team factions competing for business, True said.
Managers at smaller brokerages are often more inclined to share leads, unlike at big brokerages where they tend to be carefully guarded secrets.
“I’ve worked at places where people, even pre-pandemic, would tell me they prefer to work from home because they didn’t want their competition hearing their conversations,” True said.
Founded in 2005 by siblings Khashy and Dezireh Eyn, Platinum Properties is a full-service real estate brokerage located in New York City. The company has become equally active in commercial sales and leasing, making it one of the few boutique agencies to offer all such services under one roof.
Consistently ranked a top 10 firm, in the last several years, Platinum has closed some of the most memorable deals in modern real estate and recorded its most successful year to date in 2021 — surpassing $500 million in transactions.
The family-owned brokerage is headquartered in the Financial District with two additional Manhattan offices. Known as the industry market expert in FiDi and Battery Park City, Platinum provides the brokerage community with quarterly neighborhood market reports.
Platinum is also known for its stellar reputation in the residential leasing real estate market, boasting over 5,000 exclusive rental listings in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
