If you’re looking for a new, amazing space to hold your next event in the Financial District with sprawling views of the city, then look no further. 180 Maiden Lane is perfect for you and just opened after Labor Day Weekend this year. Platinum Properties sat down with David Beck, co-founder of Maiden Lane Hospitality Group, to tell us more about all the amazing amenities 180 Maiden Lane has to offer.

Maiden Lane Hospitality Group was founded last year by David Beck of BY DAVID COMPANIES, and his partner Joseph Smith, who owns Bobby Van’s Restaurant Group. David, who moved his staffing, catering and events company from their offices in Chelsea to the new property, and Joseph Smith, who foots it to all his properties every day, together manage the food and beverage department at 180 Maiden Lane.

David commented that if asked years ago, he never would have thought he would be working in FiDi, but the area is very convenient for transportation throughout the city, which works perfectly for the off premise catering division. However, David always loved the South Street Seaport and the Fulton Fish Market. Now David says he is “proud to be part of the revitalization of FiDi.”

The 180 Maiden Lane building was sold last January to Murray Hill Properties and Clarion, who then brought on David and Joseph to handle food and beverage in the 41 story building with 5 to 6 thousand tenants when at full capacity. The building is now about a quarter full and looking to fill office space with technology and public relations agencies.

The location consists of 30,000 square feet of public plaza space. That’s over half the size of a football field, which is few and far between in New York City. During the day, people come sit and relax on their lunch break. In the evening, the space is transformed for private events.

Referred to as a mini Bryant Park, this space is beautiful in all seasons and has so much to offer. There is open space and wonderfully manicured grass and a plethora of trees, making it a great escape from the concrete jungle of the Financial District. There is a huge projector screen by day showing breaking news, sporting events and movies for families and friends of all ages in the nice weather.

David comments, “sitting on a construction project for a year and having it come to life is spectacular.” He loves that the facility is able to appeal to all types of people in the Financial District and his main job right now is building relationships between families and businesses in FiDi. Not many buildings have all these amenities and 180 Maiden Lane is excited to offer tenants a new, beautiful outlook on office space and productive work environments.

The building has all new amenities, just like a modern NYC apartment. Inside is a Chaise fitness center and a spin room called Chaise Petal. On weekends in the nice weather, they will even offer spin classes outside on the lawn. The fitness center and locker rooms are filled with amenities you would find at a luxurious spa. The facility also features showers, locker rooms, and towel service so tenants can use the fitness center before or after work.

In need of a conference center? 180 CONFERENCES is located on the second floor and can seat about 200 people and accommodate roughly 300 people standing, making it perfect for larger corporate events. Featuring state of the art audio and visual equipment and glamorous views of the water and South Street Seaport as well as the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, this conference center is sure to impress your guests.
Moving up to the third floor, you will find the CHEFS HALL (the upscale cafeteria) for tenants of 180 Maiden Lane which seats up to 225 people. All catering and tenant events are run by the experts at Maiden Lane Hospitality Group.

Still not convinced 180 Maiden Lane is one of the most unique all-inclusive spaces in FiDi? In 2016, 180 Maiden Lane is building a new coffee bar and a gelato stand. David mentions that the new coffee bar may be called “Filter,” but that is not yet confirmed. David is really looking forward to the coffee bar and anticipates it being a big hit. In addition, there will be a juice and smoothie bar as well as a grab-and-go section with fresh sushi and healthy salads.
