A very interesting survey by Trulia revealed that 75% of Americans feel it’s better to buy a home now than a year from now, and 42% of surveyed adults expressed regret that they rented an apartment instead of buying. It looks like the nation’s sentiment is catching up with statistics: with interest rates hitting historic lows and rental prices surpassing historic highs in big cities, buying really is a no-brainer for those who can come up with a down payment. I’d be curious to see the results of the same survey in Manhattan. With the amount of bidding wars we have had this year and the lack of apartment inventory, I would expect the statistics to be at least 20% higher than the national levels.
