A great way to see the city is through the public bike sharing system, which has stations all over town.
Best day trip
If you just need to get out of the city for the day, hop on Metro-North from Grand Central Station and head up to Beacon, New York, just 80 minutes away. This former mill town has an adorable main street with shops, boutiques, and restaurants. But the main attraction is an art gallery housed in a former Nabisco factory. Dia:Beacon is a 300,000 square foot space devoted to massive installations of visual art from the 60s and 70s. When you’re done, take a tour of Bannerman Castle, a crumbling Scottish castle on the banks of the Hudson River.
