The Financial District has become one of the hottest neighborhoods in downtown Manhattan, and it’s easy to see why with all the new businesses, restaurants, shops and hotels coming in 2016. The move by top companies, such as Condé Nast and Legend Hospitality Group, to One World Trade Center has solidified the Financial District as a modern business hub. New restaurants like the upcoming relocation of the iconicNobu, blending with timeless classics like Delmonico’s, has created every foodie’s dream dining scene. The successful opening of Brookfield Place has turned FiDi into a staple for fashion lovers. Not to mention, you can quickly get anywhere in New York City from FiDi with the easy and improved commutes on public transportation!

This is just the beginning of FiDi’s transformation into the beating heart of New York’s hip and edgy downtown lifestyle. Here’s what to look out for in 2016:

Eataly

New York’s favorite gourmet hub for the authentic tastes of Italy won’t only be available in Flatiron anymore. A branch of the world’s largest Italian marketplace is finally opening in 4 WTC in the spring of 2016! After months of delays, we can’t wait for Eataly to open its FiDi doors. The delicious foods, sophisticated wines, and mouth-watering cannoli we know and love from this world-class grocer will soon be available to FiDi residents and visitors alike.

Westfield World Trade Center

As if the modern luxury shopping experience of Brookfield Place wasn’t enough, a 350,000 square foot mall is currently under construction in and around the Oculus at the World Trade Center complex. This is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016 as well. On top of bringing new shopping and dining to FiDi, the new development will also “serve a diverse community with New York-centric services and amenities, must-see events, state-of-the-art digital technology and extraordinary culture and entertainment,” according to Westfield.

Saks Fifth Avenue

Not just one, but two locations of this long-standing, top destination for luxury retail in Manhattan will be coming to FiDi in the spring of 2016. The beloved, high-class department store (with a downtown spin, of course) as well as the much-anticipated Saks OFF 5THwill both be coming to FiDi. Get ready for some serious retail therapy and make your list for summer must-haves!

Four Seasons New York Downtown Hotel and Private Residences

Just one block away from the World Trade Center, the legendary luxury hotel chain is opening a downtown location in mid 2016 that will include a 75-foot indoor pool and an intimate, full-service spa experience. Housed in one of the city’s tallest residential towers, the first 22 floors are made up of an exclusive collection of 185 guest rooms and suites designed by the internationally-renowned Yabu Pushelberg.

Beekman Hotel and Residences

Anticipated to open in February 2016, the luxury Beekman Hotel has been built inside a landmarked 1880s office building, hailed for its iconic nine-story atrium and pyramidal skylight. The installation of the hotel also marks the opening of its two restaurants, one by the revered chef Tom Colicchio and the other by restaurateur Keith McNally of Balthazar and Minetta Tavern fame.

The real estate market in FiDi has been growing even faster than its exciting collection of new entertainment including new restaurants, shopping centers and hotels. Development is underway at every corner in FiDi, transforming it into the mecca of luxury real estate. In 2015, approximately 904 residential units were added in the area, and at least 773 new units are anticipated to hit the market in 2016. FiDi is officially the new place to live, dine, shop, and experience all New York has to offer.
